What is it?

  • BARD is a collection of downloadable audio books, magazines, and Braille provided by the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, Library of Congress.
  • No need to wait for a book to be mailed - and downloaded books are never overdue!

If you already have an account with the Arizona Talking Book Library, you can also register for BARD by submitting an online application.

What is the BARD Mobile app?

You can download our books directly to your smartphone or tablet! You can also read Braille books by connecting your device to a refreshable Braille display.

How do I play downloaded materials?

On an NLS Digital Talking Book Player (DBM)

Downloaded files must be unzipped and transferred to either a standard flash drive (no larger than 8 GB) or a purchased NLS-type cartridge. You can purchase an NLS-type cartridge from the following vendors:
