Library Support Staff Certification
Arizona Library Support Staff Certification
The Arizona State Library offers the Arizona Library Support Staff Certification (LSSC) for Arizona library staff and volunteers that do not have an MLIS. This program follows a national curriculum established by the American Library Association, and is supported with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Earning the LSSC requires the completion of 6 competencies which can be earned by taking 6 online courses through Infopeople. Arizona library staff can take these courses at no cost by submitting a registration request. Once certificates of completion for each course have been submitted to the State Library, the participant will receive an Arizona Library Support Staff Certificate signed by the State Librarian and valid for four years.
Participants may also be eligible to receive the national LSSC, but would need to submit the documentation and pay the associated fees directly to ALA.
