Arizona State Agency Publications and Records Publications produced by Arizona territorial and state agencies have been collected by the Library since territorial times. The annual reports of Arizona state agencies make up a large part of the collection and are a unique source of Arizona history. Publications in the collection cover a wide variety of subjects including agriculture, mining, transportation, economics, education and government. This collection is in closed stacks and to request the retrieval of specific items, you will need to contact a reference librarian at the Research Reference Desk on the third floor in Suite 300. Also, Arizona territorial and state agencies have been compiling records throughout the years and some records of historical interest have been published in the form of directories or have been turned over to the History and Archives Division for preservation. Some agencies have made more recent records available in a searchable database format. For more information, select: Finding Arizona State Agency Publications Arizona State Agency Publications are arranged according to the Arizona Documents (AZDocs) Classification System which organizes materials by issuing agency. For example: | AZDocs Class | Arizona State Agency | | AGR | Arizona Department of Agriculture | | COM | Department of Commerce | | COR | State Department of Corrections | | EDD | Department of Education | | GF | Game and Fish Department | | GV | Office of the Governor | | HES | Department of Health Services | | LG | Legislature | | REV | Department of Revenue | | SC | Supreme Court | As the government is periodically reorganized, agency names change and responsibilities are transferred to new agencies. As a result, it is possible for reports to change, be discontinued or receive a different classification over time. The Library and Archives' online catalog lists Arizona state agency publications cataloged after 1990. A keyword-out-of-context index may be used to find some materials published before 1990.
