The Library’s historic and unique collections of Arizona maps and historic newspapers will be moved to the Polly Rosenbaum Archives and History Building this summer. The building, located near the Capitol at 1901 W. Madison Street in Phoenix, will allow for better humidity, temperature and dust control for the preservation of materials. The controlled environment within this new building will preserve these unique library collections for many years to come.
The Map Librarian will also be working in the Polly Rosenbaum Building to assist users with maps and geographic materials from the agency’s collections. Newspapers from our collection dating from Arizona’s Territorial period through two years ago and all newspapers on microfilm will be held in the new Polly Rosenbaum Building. The latest print copies of Arizona Newspapers will be kept in the Capitol Building.

Historical Arizona Newspapers Throughout its existence, the Library has subscribed to all known Arizona newspapers and has retained the newspapers for historical purposes. Once a newspaper ceases to be published or is available on microfilm, it is housed in the Arizona History and Archives Division.
Arizona Newspaper Project (ANP) In partnership with the United States Newspaper Project at the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities, library staff located, cataloged and microfilmed newspapers throughout the state as part of Arizona Newspaper Project (ANP) and many titles are available through interlibrary loan.
Searching for Records of Arizona Newspapers Bibliographic records of specific newspapers can be searched by title in the Library and Archives' online catalog, e.g., enter Tombstone Epitaph and then select the "Periodical Title" option. Or, if a specific title is not known, the newspaper can be searched by geographic location with the subject newspapers, e.g., enter "Tombstone (Ariz) newspapers" and then select the "Subject" option.
