Many web sites connect to federal information on the Internet. The mission of the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) is to distribute federal agency publications and act as an authoritative source for these publications. GPO's internet site features the Federal Digital System (FDsys) which provides public access to Government information submitted by Congress and Federal agencies and preserved as technology changes.   • Federal Citizen Information Center
    This U.S. General Services Administration site includes web publications on topics of interest to consumers.
  • FTC.gov
    This Federal Trade Commission site offers access to resources about Identity Theft, Internet Fraud, Do Not Call Registry, etc.

Databases:
  • Burial Listings (Military)
    This American Battle Monuments Commission site has databases listing those interred at the American World War I and World War II cemeteries overseas and those killed worldwide during the Korean War. There are also listings of War Dead and veterans of the Mexican War, Civil War and Spanish-American War who are buried at the ABMC cemeteries in Corozal, Panama, and Mexico City.
  • Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System
    This system is hosted by the National Park Service and is a database of basic facts about servicemen who served on both sides during the Civil War. The information comes from 6.3 million soldier records in the National Archives.
  • Company SEC Filings Database (EDGAR)
    This U.S. Securities and Exchange site has searchable access statements and reports which foreign and domestic companies are required to file with the agency.
  • Copyright Records, United States - Search
    This site has searchable access to three U.S. Copyright Office databases which contain records of registrations and ownership documents since 1978.
  • Geographic Names Information System - Search
    This U.S. Geological Survey site allows you to search for information about nearly 2 million physical and cultural geographical features in the United States.
  • Gravesite Locator, Nationwide (Veterans)
    This U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs database includes the burial locations of veterans and their family members in VA National Cemeteries and in various other cemeteries when the grave is marked with a government grave marker.
  • Health Statistics
    This Centers for Disease Control and Prevention site has statistics about diseases, births and deaths for the United States.
  • Historic Places - Search
    This National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places Information System site allows searchable access to information about nearly 78,000 districts, sites, buildings, structures and objects that are significant in American history, architecture, archeology, engineering, and culture.
  • Image Library - Search
    This U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service site allows searchable access to the National Digital Library collection of public domain still photographs of wildlife, plants, National Wildlife Refuges and other scenic images.
  • Land Office Records
    The U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s General Land Office (GLO) site contains records of two million land patents and provides access to a database of federal land conveyance records for thirty-two states issued between 1820 and 1908.    This does not include the original thirteen colonies, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas and Hawaii. Land patents document the transfer of land ownership from the federal government to individuals.
  • Mission 2000
    This is a National Park Service database which contains records of baptisms, marriages and burials from the late seventeenth century to the mid-nineteenth century for the Pimería Alta missions of southern Arizona and northern Sonora, Mexico.
  • Patents, United States - Search
    This U.S. Patent and Trademark Office site searchable access to the full-text of issued patents since 1976. Full-page images of issued patents from 1790 - 1975 are searchable only by patent number and current U.S. classification.

  • Schools, Colleges and Libraries - Search
    This National Center for Education Statistics site allows you to search for information about public and private schools and colleges as well as about public libraries.

Directories:
  • Biographical Directory of the United States Congress (1774 - current)
    This database includes information about more than 13,000 people who served in the Continental Congress, the United States Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives including information about territorial delegates, resident commissioners, and vice presidents.
  • United States Government Manual
    In addition to providing an organizational overview of the federal government, this manual lists names and contact information for federal officials.
  • U.S. Government Telephone and E-Mail Directories
    This site links to directories such as the Federal White Pages with phone numbers of federal officials, employees and offices and it also has links to topical directories of federal agencies.
