Noontime Speaker Series 2011
The Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records is pleased to present a noontime speaker on the second Thursday of every month! All presentations are from 12 to 1 PM and are free and open to the public.
The four speakers listed below will be at the Carnegie Center, 1101 W Washington, Phoenix, AZ 85007. Please bring your lunch and join us as they present on topics related to Arizona-themed books! Free parking is available around the perimeter of the building or on the first floor of the garage just north of the Carnegie.
Unless otherwise noted, these presentations are supported with funds granted by the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records Agency, a division of the Secretary of State, under the Library Services and Technology Act, which is administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Thursday, April 14
Ronnie Towne will discuss the experiences of her father, Arthur Hubbard, who was a Navajo code talker during World War II and the first Native American senator in Arizona. This presentation is coordinated to celebrate the ONEBOOKAZ for Kids 2011 title, Code Talker, by Joseph Bruchac.
Thursday, July 14
Steve Hoza will discuss and sign Best Place in the Country: First-Person Accounts of Military Aviation in Arizona during World War Two.
Thursday, August 11
Joetta Miller will discuss and sign Earth-Friendly Desert Gardening.
Thursday, September 8
Frank Barrios will discuss and sign Mexicans in Phoenix.
