YOU MAY ALREADY BE WINNER

If you a reader in good standing with the Arizona Braille and Talking Book Library, you may be sent a new digital player as a reward. The digital book machine (DMB) is yours as long as you are active within the program. Just return in its original box upon completion of service.

There are several methods for receiving digital books. You can receive digital books by mail and/or download them from the Internet. With the download option you will not need to wait for the postal service to deliver your books or wait for specific titles. More than 17,000 books and 40 magazines are available immediately.

If you have access to the Internet, you can use the Braille and Audio Recording Download (BARD) site: http://nlsbard.loc.gov

To use BARD to download books to use in the digital player, you will need:
  • A high-speed Internet connection (dial-up service will not work)
  • An e-mail address
  • A digital talking book cartridge and a compatible USB cable, designed to be used with the NLS digital talking book machine. To place an order for these items, call or go online to (617) 972-7308 http://www.perkinsproducts.org or 1-800-223-1839 http://www.aph.org online shopping.
  • Knowledge of navigating the Web, filling out online forms, downloading large items and unzipping files
You may keep your cassette machine to have access to older titles that may not yet be available on digital format. It is also necessary to use a cassette player with magazines on tape. Please return your digital books within two weeks.
