SPRING CLEANING

It is time to gather those green and blue boxes and make sure they get back to the library on time and in good condition. Be a patron in good standing and not just a patron with an active account. There is a difference. A patron in good standing not only has an active account, but also abides by the policies and procedures that he or she agreed to when signing up for our service.

A top concern is the amount of overdue books. This wouldn’t be as much a problem if there weren’t other patrons waiting to read the same title. For whatever reason, a majority of our overdue books are also the most popular titles. Although the service is free of charge, there is a cost to replacing items that are lost or damaged, whether they are books or machines. This can go from other patrons not being able to read the item in a timely manner to employee hours expended maintaining records to creating additional copies. This is a big concern with the new digital books.
