LONGTIME LIBRARIAN RETIRES
Linda Eckhardt, Technical Services librarian, retired on December 31, 2005 after 33 years of service at the Arizona Braille and Talking Book Library. Linda was hired as a reader advisor shortly after the library opened in the old Farm Bureau building on 32nd Street, long before computers were available to help get the books out. Linda served for over twenty years as a reader advisor and in 1992 she earned a master’s degree in library science from the University of Arizona, making the weekly trek to Tucson to take the classes required and taking other classes here in Phoenix. About eleven years ago Linda became our technical services librarian, supervising the mail room and keeping our catalog up to date. Linda knew the history of the library like no one else and we miss her skills, cheerful personality, and institutional memory.
