About Arizona Archives Summit
The Arizona Archives Summit was founded in 2008 by members of Arizona’s archival community to provide a venue for archivists from around the state to promote cooperation amongst archival repositories. The Summit convenes at least once a year to establish connections with members of the archival community, to enhance our archival knowledge, and to work towards our common goals.
Goals
- To encourage the updating and sharing of collection development policies.
- Demonstrate the relationships between the scope of our colleting, the ethical considerations, and the need to align our programs with the resources available.
- Provide resources and promote discussion about these topic so that attendees will acquire new knowledge to take home and implement in daily practice.
- Establish connections for an on-going conversation about archival collecting.
Sponsorship
The Arizona Archives Summit is sponsored by the Arizona Historical Records Advisory Board, the Arizona State Archives-ASLAPR, the Arizona Historical Foundation, NAU Cline Library and ASU Libraries, Special Collections.
Committees
Collection Committee. The collection committee was created in the Fall of 2009 to develop a template for a collections matrix; to evaluate the Cultural Inventory Project and suggest ways to strengthen it; and to develop ideas for the AZ Summit website that will include the above mentioned matrix.
