Mark Cesare, IT Manager at Flagstaff Public Library, and his team of IT specialists have finished adding the new BTOP computers to their busy network.
The computers for East Flagstaff and Tuba City are ready for delivery!
Launch of DigitalLiteracy.gov
DigitalLiteracy.gov features resources and tools used to teach and develop digital literacy skills including lesson plans, video games, online training tools, and train-the-trainer materials. The site’s workforce development page connects users to a wide variety of career building applications that teach the digital skills needed for today’s global workforce including word processing fundamentals, resume building tips, and job search techniques. User friendly search options and tags allow visitors to find resources by competence, subject area, provider, skills level, or keyword. Discussion threads let visitors connect and share ideas on a variety of topics and to develop feedback and best practices.
As with any new website, DigitalLiteracy.gov is constantly evolving to include new resources, functionality, and features. If you have a resource, image, video, story, or tool that might help other practitioners, please share them with us by uploading them to DigitalLiteracy.gov. DigitalLiteracy.gov already features 82 resources used or donated by BTOP recipients.

Young Public Library Awarded Three New Laptops

The Young Public Library was recently awarded three new laptops. The Dell Studio WIFI models were gained through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) 2009 Grant obtained by the Arizona State Library Archives and Public Records in partnership with Gila County Library District.

South Sam Lena Library in Tucson
A recent visit to South Sam Lena Library in Tucson revealed their new laptops, purchased with BTOP grant funds. Two laptops were out on a table for the public to use, with additional laptops available for checking out according to demand. Congratulations Sam Lena – South Tucson Library!
Benson Public Library has received ten new BTOP-funded desk-top computers for the public to use. My visit found the library bustling with activity and Peggy Scott was pleased to show me the new computers, which along with several other upgrades to the building, have improved their popular library.

Copper Queen Library in Bisbee
I enjoyed my visit with Peg White at the Copper Queen Library in Bisbee where they are looking forward to the installation of a new BTOP-funded wireless printer. The new technology will allow patrons to print from the public-access computers at the library, or from their own laptops and other wireless devices. They are also looking forward to additional public-access computers.
Improvements to Benson Public Library should make for great 2011
