Vision, Mission and Objectives


VISION

To recognize and honor the women who have made important contributions to the history of Arizona.

MISSION

The Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame program pays tribute posthumously, and honors in perpetuity, the remarkable women whose contributions to the arts, athletics, business, education, government, the humanities, philanthropy and science, have played a significant role in the history of Arizona and provide a significant contribution to the historical record of the State of Arizona.

The Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame program is dedicated to sharing the stories of women, the stories of their struggles, accomplishments and contributions to our communities, heritage and freedom--the way women created, shaped and changed our state and nation's history with courage, leadership, intelligence, compassion and creativity. We strive to educate society about the great women of our past.

OBJECTIVES

  • Seeking nominations for the Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame from all walks of life, various ethnic backgrounds, a broad variety of educational experiences, and all locales in the state;
  • Honoring the women inducted into the Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame in various ways with ceremonies, and with essays detailing their lives and achievements for future generations;
  • Maintaining an Executive Committee comprised of representatives from the Arizona Historical Society, Arizona Humanities Council, Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, Governor’s Division for Women, the Sharlot Hall Museum, and the public.
  • Seeking involvement and support by history scholars from around the state in the nomination selection process;
  • Seeking involvement and support by numerous state entities, volunteer and business groups, as well as many individuals, in the annual induction ceremony event;
  • Seeking support and involvement by numerous state entities, volunteer and business groups, as well as many individuals in the exhibit at the Carnegie Center in the State Capitol Mall in Phoenix;
  • Obtaining approval from the Board of Library, Archives and Public Records on the women chosen by the Selection Committee for induction into the Women’s Hall of Fame before the names are released to the public;
  • Maintaining a website containing the:

    - Vision and Mission Statements, and Objectives

    - Established Policies and Procedures

    - Photos and biographical information of past inductees into the Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame;

    - Nomination form for future induction into the Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame
