National Jewish Welfare Board

(1942-1945)

Printer friendly format (20 KB)
(Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader)

Historical Note

The National Jewish Welfare Board established centers for Jewish servicemen in the United States and overseas in 1917.  The Board continued to support Jewish servicemen in Word War II.  It also led enlistment and fund raising campaigns for the war effort.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of one box of notices of the military status of Phoenix Jewish servicemen. The notices list the branch of service and date of discharge, name of closest relation, occupation before service and medals won.  Some note that the men are still in service.

Processing Note

This collection of discharge notices was originally housed in the subject files of the Arizona collection. It was determined that the collection warranted preservation and should be filed in acid free folders.
