Biographical Note |

Sally Ann Gonzales served as the Democratic Representative for District 10 in Tucson for two terms from 1997 to 2000. Prior to becoming a legislator, she served on the Pascua Yaqui Tribal Council from 1992-1996 and was the Tribal Secretary for a portion of that time. Her previous occupations include being the Program Coordinator of Manos a la Vida, a breast cancer self-help intervention study for Hispanic and African-American, at the University of Arizona and a bilingual teacher for the Tucson Unified School District. In the House of Representatives, Representative Gonzales served on the Appropriations, Government Operations, Public Institutions and Universities, and Banking and Insurance Committees. |

The collection of Representative Gonzales’s office files covers the years 1996-2000. The files are divided into three series: correspondence, subject files, and committees. The bulk of the collection is subject files and covers the years 1997-2000. |

Series 1: Correspondence: Four folders include a variety of correspondence including constituent letters. Folder two contains correspondence regarding Representative Gonzales’s chairmanship of the welcoming committee for Nobel Peace Prize Winner Rigoberta Menchu Tum’s visit to Tucson.

| Series 2: Subject Files: Sixty-three folders, the bulk of which contain research files concerning family, health, and Native American issues |
