Preserving PhotographsOn the Internet Care of Photographs, also from NEDCC, provides excellent advice on the handling and storage of photographic materials. Henry Wilhelm is a well-known researcher in photographic preservation. This site provides information on the life expectancy of films, traditional prints and inkjet prints. The Image Permanence Institute is one of the finest and best-equipped centers in the world for testing imaging and recording materials and conducting preservation research. Preserving Electronic and Magnetic Media On the Internet Jim Lindner's articles on the preservation of magnetic media are well-done and easily understood by the non-professional. The Dos and Don'ts of Videotape Care by Jim Wheeler is short and to the point. Videotape Preservation by Jim Wheeler is an in-depth look at the issues of preserving videotapes. Care of Archival Compact Discs by Diane Vogt-O'Connor, Senior Archivist, Museum Management Program, National Park Service, gives an excellent overview of CDs and their care.
