Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records
Janet Fisher is the Director of Collections and External Relations for the State Library of Arizona with its research staff and collections in the areas of Arizona state publications, federal publications, law (State Law Library), and genealogy. She serves as the regional federal depository librarian and the state law librarian for Arizona.
Ms. Fisher received her Bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico, her M.S. in Library Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Master's in Public Administration from Arizona State University. She has worked in public libraries in Indiana and Texas and came to the agency in 1985 as Head of the Documents and Maps Section. Ms. Fisher became Assistant Director of the Research Division in 1991 and Director in 1998. She became Director of the State Library of Arizona in 2001. She served as Acting State Librarian 2011-2012.
Ms. Fisher has been active in the Arizona Library Association (AzLA) and American Library Association (ALA). She received the Bernadine Abbott Hoduski Founders Award from the American Library Association's Government Documents Round Table and served on and chaired the Depository Library Council to the U.S. Public Printer early in her career at the State Library.
